    On Wednesday evening, the authorities confiscated opium worth 1.15 cr.

    Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashish Bharti said the police received information about narcotics smugglers who loaded a huge quantity of Doda poppy (digging poppy heads) on a truck near Pachama village and were to take it to Jharkhand during the night.

    The police found a twelve-wheel truck parked in an abandoned place outside the village. According to the police, the smugglers and the truck driver escaped.

    The truck with a Jharkhand registration plate loaded with 112 bags of Doda. A truck with a Jharkhand registration plate loaded with 112 bags of Doda weighing 2,300 kg was seized.

    A case under Section 416 of the IPC and Sections 18, 20 and 22 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the unknown smugglers and the driver, SSP Bharti said.
